Most holiday crackers sold today are stuffed with cheap toys and toss away prizes. A decent set can set you back  over $50 for 8 crackers, and the gifts inside are still throw-away trinkets. Originally sold just before Christmas, party crackers have become popular for many occasions.
You can make your own crackers in a snap, and filling them with personalized messages, thoughtful gifts, and festive paper hats is easy.
